As one of the remarkable and beautiful scenaries of spring in Japan, you may see Koinobori streamers are flying in the air. Especially in the countryside, you can see huge carp designed streamers over 5 meters (15feet) hunging on a flagpole and flying against spring wind here and there. Parents of a newborn baby hang out Koinobori streamers with a wish that the baby grows healthy and sound as a traditional celemony　which has been living for over 500 years.

Recently, in some mountainous towns or villages in Japan, you may see thousands of carp streamers hanged across a small valley or a river.
They are the events of the local communities with the intention to revitalize the areas. The local communities collect old streamers from all over Japan for the events. Everybody who passes the area cannot help stopping and enjoy the magnificent scenery in spring.
